Project Fiesta

Part 1 in a series of build up features showing how we went about transforming a stock 1300cc Fiesta into a real high performance package (with looks to match) using readily available off the shelf components.

Small European hatchbacks hold a great fascination for me. Taking a base model and reworking it into a high performance luxury package appeals to me greatly. The thing is, small cars such as the Fiesta, Golf, Chevette etc. are all fun to drive, even more so the high performance variants like the Golf GTi, Chevette HS and Lotus Sunbeam, but even these are only touching the tip of the iceberg. The performance is there with handling to match, but in many cases the interior and exterior treatment is taken straight from an existing model end as such can only be regarded as a compromise.
