Craig Schietaert - MCX 908X - Supersport

Craig can't take credit for the stellar work on his Supersport, because it's down to his mate Wayne Beaumont.

"I bought it from this guy who had his-and-hers ones back in 2003. I bought his wife's car and it looked tidy - nice interior, genuine mileage, presentable," explains Craig. "I've had Supersports before but they always turn up with loads of owners. This guy was the second owner and it had been kept in a garage for four years."

But then he took it to work (a VW dealership) and put it on the ramp. After that he was begging Wayne to sort it all out for him. "The only thing that's not been changed is the roof," says Wayne. "I should have just changed friends really. People in my street have been married and divorced in the time it's taken to do this car.

"Oh and can I just say that for the first eight months, Craig was a bad father to this car. He went off playing golf and getting pissed while I worked on it. One night he came into my garage, passed out on the floor and I had to work around him." On another bad day in the office for Wayne, he took the back chassis leg off, the Fiesta folded in half and fell on top of him. Where was Craig? Playing golf.

Unfortunately a misfire on the day of our shoot led to much huddling around the SS's engine bay. 'Have you tried this?' and 'What about changing the thingy?'. The Supersport had to miss out on much of the track time and juttered home to Bradford a bit sorry for itself. But a new dizzy cap, points and condenser means it now does 76 mph and Craig's a little happier.

Thanks have to go out to Craig's fiancee Zoe, Andrew Nunns for lending Craig his own Supersport for reference, and Maude/Jeanette for constant tea and food supplies.
